Van Basten’s deal with the Eredivisie grouping due in the summer, and former striker seems to be tempted by a new adventure to another team.
One of the greatest players that Dutch football ever had, Marco Van Basten (49 years), it was not satisfied with his achievements as manager of Heerenveen, therefore decided that it is better for him to leave club.
However, club’s officials have already proposed him an extension of the current deal that expires in the summer, but Van Basten did not comply with this request.
“Recently took place discussions on a possible extension of the contract between the club and Marco Van Basten. Although he was wanted by the club, the coach decided not to extend the deal. The management regrets the decision, but we have to respect it,” said in a statement the Dutch grouping.
Marco van Basten was employed on February 13, 2012, when signed a two-year contract with Heerenveen. Last season, the club finished eighth the international competition, which secured qualification in play-off for the European Cups. Currently, SC Heerenveen ranks fifth in the Eredivisie (30 points), 13 points behind leader Ajax Amsterdam.
