The 32 year old footballer from Anzhi Makhachkala signed a one year deal with Chelsea, the team where will reunite with his former Inter coach Jose Mourinho.
The group from the Stamford Bridge has reached a deal with Russia’s Anzhi Makhachkala for the transfer of Samuel Eto’o. Former striker of Barcelona and Inter Milan will play in the Premier League at least one year.
Mourinho wanted very much on Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, but the bosses from Old Trafford did not want to part with the English striker, which is why the Blue’s Portuguese manager chose his former player from Inter.
Eto’o aroused the envy of many football players from big clubs, being the highest paid player in the world, with a salary reported to be € 300,000 per week. The figures of his deal with Chelsea have not yet been made public by the London club, but definitely the amounts he will earn will not be the same that he received from the Russian team.
“I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible,” Eto’o said for the club’s official website.
“It wasn’t a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.”
Eto’o is the second player transferred from Anzhi this week after the Blues brought Willian in exchange of £ 31.5 million. Former Barca striker joins to this summers’ newcomers from Stamford Bridge, names like Cristian Cuevas, Andre Schurrle, Mark Schwarzer and Marco van Ginkel.
