Juan Mata made his debut for Manchester United on Tuesday night in a match that his new team won 2-0 at Old Trafford, against Cardiff City, in round 23 of the Premier League. The Spanish footballer transferred last week from Chelsea started the game from the first minute and was replaced after 84 minutes by Adnan Januzaj.
David Moyes has used Mata behind striker Van Persie, the Spanish midfielder being the engine of his team’s offensive actions. He gave the most assists across the team, 52, with a pass rate of 87%. One of those passes was decisive on goal in the 59th minute scored by Ashley Young.
Passer skills of attacking midfielder aged 25 years old were praised by United’s manager after the game: “I think Juan played well. Has made some incredible passes, made us look different this time. He will increase and we will benefit from that. Everybody knows of what he’s capable to do, and when he will play at full capacity will help us a lot.” David Moyes said after the game.
47% was the possession of United in the match against Cardiff. € 45 million paid United for Mata a few days ago, the player overlooked by Mourinho at Chelsea, but that could totally change the game at Old Trafford.
