Barcelona has quickly found a coach after the resignation of Tito Vilanova. For the next two seasons, will sit on the Blaugrana team’s bench the Argentine tactician Gerardo “Tata” Martino.
The South American will be officially presented today and will attend on Saturday at the friendly match that Barcelona will play against Valerenga in Oslo. At this friendly, Martino will be able to know his new players, and will not have a very easy task, taking into account that most of them are experienced footballers who have won many trophies in their career.
The Argentine coach has prepared the last time Newell`s Old Boys, a team from his native country, and on Friday signed a valid contract for two years with the La Liga title holder.
Although Martino said he is confident that his appointment at the helm of the team from the Nou Camp was made possible because of Leo Messi and his father, the owner of the Golden Ball denies these rumours. Messi said Tuesday that has never met with his fellow-country, and had nothing to say about this choice. The only thing he did was to give his views on bringing to the team coach.
The only player who will have a fate similar to that of the coach is Neymar, who also vent to be part of European football for the first time this summer. From the two South Americans, both the club and fans have high expectations. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to meet them.
