Juventus French international Paul Pogba said he was the victim of racist insults from Torino AC football player Riccardo Meggiorini in the Serie A game played.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Pogba signaled the incident to the referee at the end of the first half, claiming Meggriorini called him “dirty black”.
But Meggiorini defend himself saying that it was normal bad language during a match, “Yes, clearly they were abusive, but not racist. Were normal curses, as often occurs in football matches. Pogba should not complain every time someone says something. And I was insulted and did not say anything, because these things happen in football. ”
In his turn, AC Torino coach Giampiero Ventura, said that “the alleged offense was not aggressive,” but still Meggiorini made this gesture: “I asked him to go and apologize to the referee and player and he made that. Are words said under tension. All started on the pitch and had to stay there. ”
Juventus is leading the Serie A standings with 11 points ahead of Napoli, second place. AC Torino occupies 16th place, four points ahead of the relegation zone.
