The Dutch striker Robin van Persie has claimed before the World Cup in Brazil that Spain is still the best national team in the world, after La Roja has won the last World Cup and the previous two European Championship.
The Netherlands national team will try again to lift the world trophy, after in the previous edition the Orange was pretty close to winning it.
An important role will have Robin van Persie, footballer that will be led on the bench by Louis Van Gaal, the new Manchester United tactician after the tournament in Brazil.
Before kick off the World Cup the Dutch striker spoke about tactics implemented by his coach at the national team, while claiming that Spain, one of the opponents they will face in groups phase, is still the best team in the world.
“We only have a few weeks and two friendlies before we play against the best team in the world. In my opinion, Spain is still the best,” Van Persie told Voetbal International.
“I will not discuss our system too much, because our opponents could benefit from that. They just have to wait on how to deal with it.
“I really believe in this system. When you see how much progress we make every day, that’s very positive. I’m not only talking about the training, but also our meetings off the pitch.
“The coach already said that we’re taking risks. If every players fullfills his task, this system can be fantastic.
“Within a few days I saw so much progress in our team. We just know what the coach means and that’s very nice to see. We really have to connect.”
Besides the clash with Spain, the Netherlands will have to face Australia and Chile in Group B.
