Leo Messi said after the defeat in the Copa America final against Chile that “there is nothing more painful than losing a final.”
The Argentinian star was again part of an unpleasant episode in his career as a footballer. After a year before lost the World Cup final to Germany, this year Messi has lost another final.
Saturday evening held Copa America final between Chile and Argentina. The hosts came out victorious after shootout (4-1) and Messi seems to have remained quite affected by this defeat.
Argentina’s national team has not won a major trophy for 22 years, and after the match Barcelona star expressed his disappointment, however thanking fans for supporting the team.
“There’s nothing more painful in football than losing a final,” Messi wrote on his official Facebook page.
“But I don’t want to leave it any longer to say thank you to everyone who has always supported us and continued to during the tough moments.”
Besides losing the final, Messi has had part of an unpleasant event in that game – his family was attacked by some Chilean fans in the stands.
