Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, has signed today a contract for five seasons with Arsenal, announced the English press.
According to daily The Sun, Arsenal paid around 15 million euros for the purchase of the international French. “I am proud that I will play at Arsenal,” said Giroud.
“I wish him well at his new team,” said Louis Nicollin, Montpellier club president, for the daily Midi Libre.
Wenger said he is very pleased with the move made today: “We are delighted to have secured the signing of Olivier Giroud. He has a very good physical presence and is exceptional in the air, with a great work ethic.”
Olivier Giroud, 25-year-old, won the championship last season with Montpellier and was part of the France group at the European Championship final tournament in Ukraine and Poland. He played in his career at Grenoble, Tours FC, FC Istres and Montpellier.
The 25-year-old striker ended last season with 21 goals, being the top scorer in Ligue 1.
