AC Milan and Lazio will meet today in the 10th round of Serie A. Both Milan (ranked 10th) and Lazio (7th) had a disappointing start this season. Both groups have been hit by injuries in the squad, which led to a mix of results, so one side and the other.
The grouping from the Italian capital has not won at San Siro for 24 years. It happened in 1989, when Lazio took all three points at stake thanks to an own goal from Paulo Maldini. From then until now, the Biancocelesti were struck by the total lack of inspiration in dealing with the Rossoneri in Milan.
But superior record of the team led by Allegri does not intimidate Vladimir Petkovic, the tactician of the group from Olimpico.
“We play at a stadium we have historically found it difficult to win at,” he told a Press conference.
“We need to build on what we’ve done and try and get some points on the road. Everyone here is confident, but we need to show that on the pitch. I expect an improvement from everyone, and we also need great support from the fans.”
“If we want to win in Milan we have to do everything possible. The last time we went to Milan there was a penalty and an unjust sending off. We’re not using that as an excuse, but I hope this time we’re not talking about those sorts of things.”
“We’ve had a lot of injuries, which hasn’t helped. But we’re not far from where we should be. Milan are always a dangerous opponent, and will be desperate for a win.”
AC Milan comes after a defeat, 2-3 to Parma, with the goal conceded in the 90+5 minute, after they managed to equalize from 0-2. On the other side, Lazio won the last match in Serie A, 2-0 at home with Cagliari, that after a series of three games without a win.
