The two seasons in which has worked with Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid left a mark on young central defender Raphael Varane, who praised the Portuguese tactician.
Mourinho’s charisma and personality have impressed the 20-year-old French defender, who characterizes “The Special One” as a winner and a man passionate by competition.
“I am young and I have not had too many coaches, and it’s hard to make comparisons, but I would say that Mourinho’s personality and charisma were felt over the entire team. He’s a winner, a competitor and send this to all player. Wherever he went , created teams always combative, with character.” said Raphael Varane, according to FIFA’s official website.
“He always kept the word in the two years we worked together, and always knew when to send me on the ground at the right time.” added the French defender.
Varane played on October 2 the first match of the season (against FC Copenhagen), returning after a knee injury which kept him away of the pitch for four months. The French footballer has been one of the leading players in the defensive line during the time Mourinho coached Real Madrid. It seems that Ancelotti will further rely on the services of young player.
