Although he lost the debut match at Real Madrid with 2-1 against Fiorentina, Keylor Navas said he felt good in his first game in Los Blancos’ jersey.
The goalkeeper position is a fairly played role at Real Madrid in the last two years. If in the past Casillas was an unquestionably regular for Galacticos, in the last two seasons the Spanish goalkeeper has seen many matches from the bench, his place being taken by Diego Lopez in the Primera Division games.
Now Diego Lopez was sold to AC Milan, but Real signed in place on Keylor Navas from Levante, the 27-year-old Costa Rican goalie who had good performances at the World Cup in Brazil. Navas debuted at his new team this weekend in a friendly match with Fiorentina lost 2-1 by Carlo Ancelotti’s footballers.
But Navas was pleased with how he felt on the field with new colleagues, even if he started with a defeat in Real Madrid’s shirt.
“It was a shame that we couldn’t win tonight. We have got to keep working and improving every day,” Navas said after the game with Fiorentina.
“But I felt comfortable out there and the overall sensations were very positive. Getting that first contact with my team-mates was important.
“I have no reason at all not get along with anyone here. I have come here to work hard with humility and push myself, just like I have done all through my life.
“I am at the coaching staff’s disposal. I will never give up and I will continue working as hard as I can every day.”
