Bulgaria produced the first surprise of the World Cup 2014 qualifier: 2-2 with Italy in the first round of Group B. After a perfect pass coming from Gargorov, Stanislav Manolev beat Buffon with a “bomb” from 30 meters, after half an hour of play.
However, Bulgarians’ joy did not last long. Until the Half Time, the Italian was leading 2-1 thanks to a “double” signed by Pablo Osvaldo.
Milanov equalized in the 66th minute, with a shoot from 10 meters, and the game ended 2-2. In the next round, Italy will host Malta, while Bulgaria will play at home with Armenia.
Two cops and a Bulgarian supporter in were injured before the match in Sofia. The two policemen were slightly injured while intervened to end a conflict between the supporters of Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia.
About 100 fans of Levski, very aggressive, according to police, provoked a number of fans of CSKA Sofia, near Vassil Levski stadium, half an hour before the start of the match.
The police intervened to escort Levski’s fans to Stadium, while CSKA fans responded by throwing bottles and stones. The injured fan of CSKA was hospitalized. During the match two supporters were arrested, while other five were arrested for public nuisance.
