German midfielder returns to the Gunners grouping after a break of more than a month. Arsenal Coach hopes Mesut Ozil to have a decisive impact in their game, claiming he’s a footballer ‘absolutely fantastic’.
The most expensive player in the history of the Arsenal club was not available for his manager Arsene Wenger since March 11. Then Ozil was injured in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout phase against Bayern.
After that injury doctors have approximated a recovery period of six weeks and he could return now in Sunday’s Premier League match against Hull City.
Arsenal is ranked fourth and has to play the FA Cup final in mid-May, Wenger hoping Ozil’s return to have a positive impact in the Gunners’ game.
“Ozil has prepared well and it depends how quickly he will come back into the pace of the game,” Arsenal manager told reporters.
“He is a quick player and agile, so sometimes these players get you out of tight situations and open up to do something interesting behind (the defence) and, when they are not there, you don’t get out of the situation and you lose the ball.
“He has gone through a difficult spell because physically he was not as present as you would expect him to be, and I can understand the judgement at the time when he was sometimes a bit (below form), you wanted more of him, but I think you are right that you see his quality when he is not there.
“The first season (in the Premier League) is the season in which you adapt and then you know what will happen and you go into it, and I believe that (next season) he will know better his partners, he will know better the league and the potential is absolutely fantastic.” concluded Wenger.
