Binaconeri fans can breathe a sigh of relief now. Pirlo has talked about his plans for the future and says he wants to stay at Juventus, despite the team’s elimination from the Champions League since the group phase. The Turin club feared that would lose the midfield, especially since he said on several occasions that he left Milan to restart to win trophies.
“I chose to leave Milan because I hoped to recommence to win trophies. My intentions are clear, I want to stay at Juve. I will meet with club officials in the coming days and I’m optimistic. I still want to play, yet do not know where to retire, but as long as I want to play, I will continue to play and to train, “said Pirlo in an interview with Radio 105.
Pirlo’s contract will expire in June. The Italian footballer is wanted by Real Madrid, and Ancelotti expects to transfer himat the Santiago Bernabeu free agent, though Los Blancos rarely resort to such method.
According to press reports in Italy, the 34-year-old midfielder requires a salary of 4 million euros per season, while Juventus officials are willing to offer something less than that. But Italian journalists give assurances that signing a new agreement is imminent.
Andrea Pirlo has signed with Juventus in 2011, after spending 10 seasons in the shirt of AC Milan, the team with which won the Champions League trophy twice.
