Schalke 04 have tried to address the Bavarians for the transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri, but Bayern Munich bosses were made understood from the start. They will not sell him in the near future.
The heads from the Veltins-Arena are looking for reinforcements in the offensive department, after the club parted from Michel Bastos, footballer that was transferred to Al Ain. One of their targets was the 21 year old footballer from Bayern, Xherdan Shaqiri.
Schalke’s general manager Horst Heldt, has revealed that although he tried to sit at the negotiating table with representatives of the Bundesliga champions for the transfer of Shaqiri, they refused to talk about a possible move. The heads from the Allianz Arena wanted to be understood from the beginning, and not leaving room for interpretation.
“I got in touch with Matthias Sammer to ask him about Xherdan Shaqiri’s availability. Unfortunately, he made it clear that they do not want to let go of him,” Heldt was quoted as saying by Bild.
Shaqiri was transferred at Bayern last year from FC Basel for the amount of € 11.6 million. He had a pretty good first season with the champions from Germany, for who played 39 matches in which he scored 8 goals.
Following the transfer of Mario Gotze and Thiago Alcantara, Shaqiri gave the impression of a footballer out of the new tactician Pep Guardiola’s plans, but it seems that the club management have other plans for the young player.
