Heynckes retires from football

At 68 years old, Jupp Heynckes has won this season the triple with Bayern Munich – UEFA Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. However, the Bavarians’ coach will be replaced by Pep Guardiola, who will come into play from June 24.

In an interview with Kicker the tactician of the UEFA Champions League winners said he will not work in football and that not tempts him a new adventure to othe club.

In 3 terms during which was coach of the Bavarians (July 1987 – October 1991, April-June 2009, June 2011 – June 2013), the 68 years old tactician managed to build a strong team at Bayern Munich who won everything possible last season.

Heynckes won three Bundeslga titles at the helm of Bayern, in 1989, 1990 and 2013.

Two consecutive UEFA Champions League finals played the Bavarians with Heynckes on the bench: one lost in 2012 even on Allianz Arena, in front of Chelsea, and the second one in 2013 that they won in front of their rival Borussia Dortmund.
